Oscar died in Australia today. He was 11 years old and was taken by a tick. I'm going back to Aus in a few weeks and hadn't realised how much I was looking forward to seeing Os again. He'll be terribly missed.
I feel your pain. The loss of a pet is devastating.
I read 2 great dog books over Christmas - one by Aussie/Kiwi journalist Frank Robson called "Lucky for Me: Adventures with a seafaring, cat-hating, tree-climbing dog" and "Marley and Me: Life & Love with the World's Worst Dog" by American John Grogan.
At my feet as I write this is a bigger version of Oscar in the form of a Labradoodle called Genevieve. She belongs to a work colleague but has decided that I am part of her pack.
Nothing beats the love and loyalty of a dog - it's unwavering and constant.
A teacher who ventured off the island continent of Australia and found herself smack bang in the middle of the desert in Al Ain (UAE). Five years later she's packed her bags again and now finds herself in the jungles of Brunei.
